University Work-Study Programs

If you possess a Student visa or Tier 4 visa allowing you to work in the UK. The University of Strathclyde's Department of Work, Employment, and Organisation also presents various research degree opportunities. It holds accreditation as a provider of Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) qualifications.

International students holding a student visa are permitted to work the following hours: 

  • 20 hours per week during term time if enrolled in a degree-level qualification or higher (course must be SCQF level 9 or RQF level 6 or above).

  • 10 hours per week during term-time for students undertaking a Pre-Sessional course.

  • During official University holiday periods, students can work unlimited full-time hours. Holiday durations will vary based on the specific course of study.

Any student cannot access more than 20 or 10 hours per week at any time. Working an average number of hours that surpasses the set limit is not permissible. For instance, if permitted to work 20 hours weekly, working 24 hours one week and 16 hours the next is not allowed.
