Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU) was established in 1981 as Kwantlen College to address the growing demand for expanded vocational training in the Fraser Valley. Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU) transitioned to a university college in 1995. In 2008, the provincial government proposed amendments to the University Act, designating Kwantlen University College as a polytechnic university. 

KPU is one of the region's largest educational institutions and has five locations across the Metro Vancouver district. It is recognised for its comprehensive offerings, and KPU provides a wide array of programmes, including bachelor's degrees, diplomas, certificates, and citations, spanning over 120 fields of study.With a 60% acceptance rate, KPU's admissions process is moderately selective, offering opportunities for many applicants to secure admission.
