About the University

Established in 1923 as Texas Technological College, later renamed Texas Tech University in 1969, the institution stands as the flagship of the Texas Tech University System. With a vibrant student body of 40,944 as of Fall 2023, it ranks as the sixth-largest university in Texas. Boasting a diverse community, with over 25% of undergraduates identifying as Hispanic, Texas Tech holds the designation of a Hispanic-serving institution. Notably, the Lady Raiders basketball team clinched the NCAA Division I Tournament championship in 1993.
