About the University

Founded in 1975 as the National Institute for Higher Education, Dublin City University (DCU) has grown into a prominent public institution.  In 2006, it established a world first the Institute of Ethics solidifying its commitment to responsible academic practices. DCU fosters a global perspective through its extensive student exchange program spanning over 100 countries. 

As of 2020, the university boasts a thriving community of over 17,400 on-campus students and a network of more than 80,000 alumni.  Additionally, DCU offers online programs through DCU Connected catering to approximately 1,200 students. In 2019, the university employed a dedicated staff of approximately 1,690 individuals.

Dublin City University Work Study Programme

The student pursuing Dublin City University will complete a fully paid, professional internship for a minimum of 4 weeks to a maximum of 12 weeks. Any student pursuing any Undergraduate course in the university for a minimum of four weeks and a maximum of 12 weeks between June and August. The students have to offer at least 30 hours of work per week at a minimum rate of €10.50 per hour.
